Brooks Falls - Katmai National Park - Alaska

Visiting Brooks Falls takes a little bit of pre-work and scheduling ahead of time. Once Jack & I decided to make the trip, we decided that we were going to camp. All reservations for camping are made the beginning of January of the year. We heard that the lodge usually fills up about a year and a half ahead of time. We flew to Anchorage and then had a flight to King Salmon, where we boarded a float plane out to Brooks Falls. It was a great trip and we're already ready to go back! I hope you enjoy looking at the photos half as much as I enjoyed taking them.

After 402 walked by with her cubs, we waited a couple of minutes and then walked down to the water's edge to see if we could see her down the beach. We didn't find her, but just down from the campground, we did find this bear and her 3 cubs taking a nap. Within a few minutes, she got up and started walking towards us. The cubs naturally followed.
