Marvel at the Magnificent Mammals of Maui!

During our time on Maui, we went on two whale watching tours. Our tours were back to back. We didn't get the chance to see any whales breaching, however we were fortunate to see a competition pod. It was incredible to watch them fight. As we watched, the pods continued to expand, with more whales coming into the group. Each time a new one arrived, there would be an increase in activity. If you look close, you can actually see some blood on one of the whales. Some of the shots below have as many as 5-6 whales showing. The final shot on the page is an animation, which shows a series of shots as the tail is raised from the water and decends back into the water.
