Utah 2013

Photos from my trip to Moab, UT. This year, before joining Lightchase Photography on the Wild Horse tour, Jack and I decided to go out to Utah for a week and photograph on our own. We photographed Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We combined our photography with quite a bit of hiking. We even managed to get lost on one of our hikes…to False Kiva. The trail isn't marked well and we were following the GPS coordinates from the last time. The problem was we started out at the wrong trailhead and ended up taking a trail that landed us right about 200 ft from the Kiva, unfortunately it was right above the Kiva. Then we hiked back and found the correct trail. Our hike ended up being about 4 miles. The following day, we hiked to Double O Arch, a 5.2 mile hike. This is a well established trail so we didn't get lost on this one. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the arch, a storm was moving in, so we snapped a couple of photos and headed back to the trailhead. It rained on us most of the way back to the car. We'll definitely have to go back sometime with better skies! It was a great beginning to our vacation. After spending a week here, we met up with our tour group to go to Green River, Wyoming to photograph wild horses.
