We could hear their laughter as they came around the bend and saw the bear! We made it the rest of the way back to Wonder Lake and took a break to relax and just enjoy the park. As we headed back through the park, we stopped to take a few more landscape shots….still hoping for a real, close-up encounter with a bear. Finally, Up ahead…a BEAR JAM! We got our close-up encounter. This grizzly stayed close to the road as he was foraging for food in the snow. We moved along the road with him, snapping pictures along the way. As he moved closer to the road, the rangers told everyone to be sure they were next to their own car. Then as he got even closer, they asked everyone to get in their car. We left the doors open and continued to shoot. As soon as he moved back a tiny bit, we hopped out and continued to shoot. Thanks to Mark’s advice on a previous trip, I began to anticipate the path the bear was taking, and suggested we move up to a new location. He agreed and we moved on down the road. The bear continued on his path and gave us many more opportunities to photograph. It was an incredible experience! After our bear encounter, we had a few more opportunities for landscapes. We ran across some Dall Sheep near the road. We stopped and took a few shots. The perfect day ended with a beautiful sunset over Denali National Park. Our Alaska journey continues>>>>
